About Me

I am a creative — a photographer and designer living in Montgomery, Alabama with my beautiful wife and four kids. I currently run a small photography and design business where I work with clients such as Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitor Bureau, Alabama Department of Archives and History, Montgomery Visitor Guide, The River Region United Way, Legacy Senior Living, Saint James School, The YMCA, Auburn University Montgomery, Vanderbilt University, The Junior League of Montgomery, Child Protect, Know the Community, Alabama Living, Montgomery Business Journal, Wells Fargo & Co., Partners Realty, The Shoppes at EastChase and many more.

In the past, I worked for a publisher, designing many local and international magazines. Over the years, I’ve worked for clients as big as Saks Fifth Avenue and as small as the mom and pop coffee shop right down the road.

Long before graduating with a degree in Graphic Design and Information Systems, I was fascinated with art, design, and technology. My degrees were simply an attempt to legitimize my passions, and they have led me to many opportunities. My photography and designs have been published in dozens of local, national and international publications, as well as, countless promotional materials, online campaigns, and websites.

Production Assistant, Graphic Designer, Digital Systems Consultant, Technical Art Director, Creative Art Director, Web Designer, Producer, Photojournalist, Commercial Photographer  — I’ve been called just about everything. And today I find myself wearing many different hats all at once. If you’ve ever been a business owner, you understand. Deep down I’m a photographer and designer… a true right-brain creative who is inspired by the world around him.

Web Design, Database Management, SEO—they are skills I have at my disposal, but my passion lies in photography, typography and traditional methods of art & design. I choose my jobs very selectively while not forgetting those who helped me along the way.

I love my job and I’m passionate about the future. Carter Photography & Design has evolved over the years and today the company has three major divisions: CP&D handles all commercial and corporate photography for advertising, real estate and promotions; Taste Buds Photography brings life to kitchen with incredible food photography and C3D Spaces™ has taken local business to the next level by leveraging immersive 3D technology powered by Matterport.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Because I find it comforting to know something about those I work with. I understand that for a job to be performed well and communication to be at its best—a relationship must be formed. I want you to understand where I’m coming from. To know I have a family and have experienced the responsibility of raising children.

Anyone can develop the skills necessary to build a website or to layout an article in a magazine. Marketing graduates can guide you to content for your next ad, Editors can fill your pages. Printers can even combine these materials to the point of final publishing, but it takes a designer to put it all together in such a way that it reaches your target audience and communicates the idea you know it was meant for. It takes a professional photographer to capture just the right expressions and to make your content stand out from the rest with authentic and unique imagery.

I’m that guy that can carry your project from start to finish. I can deliver on time and with quality workmanship. Your deadlines are important and so is your budget. If I don’t know something, I’ll hire the person that does. With Carter Photography & Design, you don’t have to worry.

Give me a call. Let’s see if we can help one other—it doesn’t have to be big. It doesn’t even have to be a design. I’d love to photograph your next event or brainstorm for your next big project. You need video, I do that too. Drones, 3D Scans, Virtual Tours — it’s in my toolbox available to you.

Need more? Public speaking, teaching engagements, group education or individual tutoring — I do it all the time. Call or email me to find out when my next availability is.

No matter what the job challenges are I can meet your needs, and if I can’t — I’ll help you find someone that can.
